About us
Our mission
Fundación JD10 was born after its founder, José Daniel Durán, having worked for over two years with data annotation companies for AI training, specifically in the areas of code, quality, and content generation, found that the general adoption of this technology was not the same as it appeared from the perspective of an engineer or software developer, for whom it was nothing more than a tool.
In everyday use, two friends he deeply values were using this technology in ways he never imagined:
- One of them, a father, used it to share his art without being criticized or ignored, as possibly happened or still happens with his family members.
- Another used it to share personal situations, including a conversation in which it diagnosed a person with autism based on their behaviors.
Both situations became a point of reflection, revealing how language models were becoming psychologists, doctors, counselors, and how people were increasingly isolating themselves in an emotional bubble, communicating with machines whose responses always tend to be agreeable, which emotionally creates an intolerance to rejection or to anything that doesn't respond with the same immediacy or precision as a machine.
None of this is a problem of the people who have adopted these uses for 'artificial intelligences' (which are really language models), but rather a social problem, in which people don't feel confident interacting with others, out of fear of being judged, misunderstood, or simply ignored. This is a point where people must and need to create real bonds with other people, even when it feels like an 'adverse' situation within the apparent comfort of daily life.
This use should not be attacked, because, again, it's not a problem of people being drawn to something like this, the real problem lies with those who are unwilling to be present for others. Language models are a great work tool, and this is what should be addressed and taught: that they are an excellent tool, but that their capabilities should not be confused with giving them a personality and creating a parasocial relationship with them.
Our vision
Fundación JD10 aspires to work toward providing education on the proper use of artificial intelligence (which, in current circumstances, is the name given to large language models), encouraging responsible use as a work tool across different business and commercial areas, and even to enhance hobbies, while simultaneously discouraging its use in creating parasocial relationships: as a friend, confidant, doctor, or therapist.
As a way to strengthen both points, Fundación JD10 will also develop open-use software supported by language models, properly labeled. Such software will contribute to teaching the proper use of this technology, but also to helping connect people with other people.
Our values
Solidarity and empathy
Minds are vulnerable and susceptible to manipulation, by other people, by machines (created by other people), or by our own beliefs and biases. No one is exempt from this, and it is something for which support should be provided and one should be willing to receive it.
Responsibility
Tools that significantly reduce work time or human effort must be used consciously, understanding that their use should not replace the human capacity for reasoning and analysis.
Transparency
Everything we do will be public knowledge, as long as no legal impediment, contractual, confidentiality, or privacy, prevents it.
